Here Comes the Sun

During the week I am a nanny to two wonderful girls! However, I had a few days off this week and since I’m normally working, I had no scheduled sessions. I decided to hang out with my lovely friend Kaya. Our version of hanging out usually results in photo-shoots because we both love being creative. This winter has been one of the nicest and it’s been 60-70 degrees these past couple weeks..and it’s not officially Spring yet. I found this to be one of my most favorite photo-shoots, perhaps because we were just having fun and enjoying the day. There was no pressure to get that “money shot”, and actually some of the imperfect shots are my favorites because they capture the real moment. I truly cannot pick out which pictures I like best, so this post might have a few more than normal!

Before I post the pictures, here’s a behind the scenes video. I have done these before, and honestly they are more for my own memories than anything else. I don’t think I’m any great videographer, and I definitely don’t see myself pursuing it. You can tell by the shaky video that we were probably having too many laughs. : ) I think it will give people a better idea of how much fun you can have a photo-shoot, don’t take yourself so seriously.  Being relaxed and carefree is the only way to get AMAZING photos! Oh and a big thank you to The Beatles for writing a song specifically for this day! ; )

One of the main thing I love about this session is how natural it seems. I did not over edit anything because I wanted her to look real, yet still stylish.

As mentioned in the previous post, we bought a chair at an antique store. I LOVE IT! : )

I love the shadowing in these next two.

This next photo makes me laugh because Kaya got told once that “looking up in the sky isn’t modeling”, well, maybe not, but she looks pretty when she does. Don’t you think? So… I tell her to keep doing it!  Of course, according to many people, I don’t even shoot correctly. So I suppose I’m all about going against the norm! : ) And you know what, that is PERFECTLY ok with me. Besides, I don’t want to attract the uptight sort of people. The imperfections and mistakes are some of my best work. Weee!

These next three are just Kaya being…Kaya! And that’s why I love them.

There are so many more, but I already squeezed quite a few into this post. Come back soon for her next outfit…  : )
